Diversificación no agropecuaria, adopción de telefonía móvil e ingresos en el México rural

Resumen

En este trabajo se estudia la relación participación en empleo no agropecuario y adopción de telefonía móvil en el sector rural de México. Con datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos de los Hogares (ENIGH 2016) se analiza el impacto de la participación en el trabajo no agropecuario en la adopción del móvil, empleando un modelo probit de selección endógena. Asimismo, el efecto conjunto del trabajo en actividades no agropecuarias y el uso del celular en el ingreso familiar se examina mediante un modelo de función control. Los resultados muestran que la incursión en el sector no agropecuario aumenta la probabilidad de usar el móvil. De igual forma, el trabajo en actividades fuera del campo, así como la adopción del celular incrementan el ingreso del hogar. Estos hallazgos sugieren políticas de inclusión digital y de empleo para mejorar el nivel de vida de la población rural.
